How To Kill It On Black Friday If You're Shopping For Yourself
November 25, 2013
You might think Black Friday is the time to get all your holiday shopping over with, but it’s an even better time to go shopping for yourself. Don’t believe me? Well, it’s been proven that Black Friday is a selfish holiday, and I’m not just making this up as an excuse for myself to finally get that iPhone 5S. In a recent DealNews survey, 44% of respondents said they’d mostly be shopping for themselves on Black Friday. “Selfish” here isn’t necessarily a bad thing, in fact, it probably makes more sense than you think (and one of the few times it’s OKAY to put yourself before others–especially during the holidays). I mean with 100+ amazing Black Friday sales, stores are practically begging us to do some retail therapy.
Everyone has that one friend who makes holiday shopping all about her. She makes a list of everything she needs to get her family and friends, gets sidetracked by “lowest prices of the season” and then blows all her money on things for herself. We’re not saying you should do exactly that, but can you really blame her for buying what she wants when the best deals of the year are going on? If you saw the one handbag you’ve wanted since last Christmas was 50% off, why wouldn’t you buy it right then and there? You can count on family to be there for you no matter what, but sometimes, the only person you can trust to buy the gift you ACTUALLY want is yourself (#sadbuttrue).
So, if you’re someone who plans to do some selfish shopping 5 days from now, click the slideshow to see our tips for how to kill it on Black Friday. We show you how to save money and shop smart, so you get everything YOU want and also have money to spend on others. See, being selfish this time of year IS a good thing because now we have more money to buy our friends and family nice gifts.
