In the years after college, making a home starts to mean a lot more than just sticking a futon in front a flat screen. As we navigate through our 20s and early 30s and with each new apartment and eventual house, “home decor” takes on a whole new meaning (and price tag). Things like like sectionals and bar carts and built-ins enter the mix. You worry about matching throw pillows and creating gallery walls and having enough seating to host small parties there. But before you spend your life savings on decorating your first or second adult living space, just remember that you can make a new apartment or house feel comfortable and home-y for less than $1,000 for the whole thing. Click through the slideshow above to see how.
