People had so many feelings when Apple rolled out the iOS 10 update for iPhone. The snooze function is different, the alarm, in general, is harder to use and don’t even get me started on the emojis! But the biggest and most disappointing change has to be that the “slide to unlock” feature is gone. I loved the sliding, it was so suave, but what’s even worse is that the new “click to unlock” is kind of finicky. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it takes a few tries. The slide never failed me.
According to Business Insider, Apple made the switch because users find TouchID (when you scan your finger so that only your print can unlock the device) to be “overly sensitive.” Now it is more effective.
However, if you’re missing the swipe like me, there is a way to go back (yay!). Here are the steps:
1) Go to “Settings.”
2) Click on the “General” tab.
3) Click “Accessibility.”
4) Scroll down to the new “Home Button” tab.
5) Select the “Rest Finger To Open” option.
That’s it! You’re back to swipin’ away. Enjoy.
