We could have sworn that no one (the Lady included) could pull of the pants-free skirt style — but here we are, eating our words. As of late, a bevvy of celebrities have proved us wrong — from Olivia Palermo to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and others, make dropping trou look good. It’s a trend that borders dangerously on Lady Gaga territory, so don’t try it without reading our guide first.

A few tips: layer your shirt skirt with a miniskirt, like Nikki Reed (second from left) did — effectively adding a layer of modesty (and style!). Also, try a tribal patterned skirt that blends the sheer-to-opaque line of demarcation, just like Olivia’s look. If you’re feeling adventurous, make like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley or Katharine McPhee and go for broke with just a leotard or shapewear (like these pieces we love from ResultWear). Now you’re ready!
