How To Wear The Military Trend Without Looking Like You're Headed To Desert Storm

You don’t have to be Goldie Hawn in Private Benjamin to rock this season’s military trend. Everywhere we look, Desert Storm is all around us, from the combat boots, to the skinny cargos – we’re all set for the draft. But thanks to celebrities like Rihanna and Kate Moss, who pull off the trend so well, we can just dress the part and leave the whole army part to Jake Gylenhaal in Jarhead. Check out these top 5 must-have military trends that your closet needs:

Combat Boots:

Strut through the streets (or the sand) in these Steve Madden Troopa Combat Boots ($99.95). And don’t be fooled by all the laces, there’s a zipper on the side for an easy way out.

Military Jackets:

Duck for cover, or just cover yourself, in one of our favorite trends – the military jacket (a Kate Moss fave). This one by William Rast ($175) adds a belt to give it a feminine touch.

Desert Boots:

Since the idea is to blend into the sand, grab a pair of desert boots – to stand out on the street. These DV by Dolce Vita Bailey Boots ($75) are way more stylish than what any soldier wears.

Skinny Cargo Pants:

Use all of the pockets (and zippers) in these Blank NYC Denim Skinny Cargo Pants ($78) for a true Sergeant feel. We love the versatility of this gray color, especially to tuck into flat black boots.

Camoflauge Print:

Maybe not for pants, but feel free to add a little sparkle while hiding out in this Charlotte Russe Sequin Camo Tank ($18). Wear it for a throwback game of man-hunt, or more realistically speaking, to the bar with your friends.
