How To Whiten Your Teeth With A Banana Peel (Yes, Really!)
October 6, 2015
Whitening your teeth with a banana peel… what will they think of next?! But really, take our word for it. At least you’ll be saving thousands of dollars with this cool, free trick.
Whitening your teeth with a banana peel does wonders because the minerals found in a banana peel (potassium, magnesium and manganese) help whiten your teeth. So when we scrub the banana peel on our teeth, these minerals absorb into our pearly whites making them, well, pearly white. Also, a banana peel is sensitive on teeth, which means it won’t be as abrasive as most whiteners.
Now that we know why it works, we’re going to tell you how it’s done.
Step 1: Pick a banana peel that is ripe, if the banana peel is black it has lost a majority of its minerals.
Step 2: Peel one strip of the banana. You don’t need the whole peel for one use! It’s recommended to peel from the bottom of the banana up, because it leaves more of the stringy flesh inside the peel.
Step 3: Rub the banana peel against your top and bottom teeth, until they are completely coated. Once your teeth are covered, let the banana paste sit for approximately ten minutes. Also, try to keep your mouth open and your lips away from your teeth. This may not be the most ideal position, but the ten minutes will be over before you know it.
Step 4: Once the ten minutes are up, brush your teeth with toothpaste to rinse off the banana paste. Repeat once every day, for up to two weeks.
Then, you’re done! We also recommend you only do this once pa day. Take a before and after picture, and let us know if it worked for you!
