As I’ve already shared, these J. Crew Matchstick Jeans ($98) are seriously my favorite thing. And while the model in this photo is doing a lovely ballet-flats-and-pastel-shirt brunch/casual office outfit thing, I also like to glam these up a bit and wear them out on the town. The dark wash is key, because (as evidenced below) they look great with pastels and daywear, but they also blend right in at dimly-lit restaurants and bars. Below, some options for what to wear with dressy denim.
Serious Shoes, Serious Earrings
With unique standout earrings like this gold-and-stone pair from Alexis Bittar ($325), and high heels in an unexpected color like the glossy blue on these thick-strapped sandals ($98.96), it doesn’t even really matter what kind of shirt you wear – the getup would look night-out fancy with a white ribbed tank.
Flowing Top, Little Bag
A flowing cut contrasts nicely with the geometric lines of a small clutch, and highlights the slim silhouette of the jeans. We especially like the black-patent-and-wicker combo on J. Crew’s Miranda Picnic Clutch ($68). Try it with a simple slouchy tunic like Rachel Palley’s Jen Top ($146) or go for more drama with the sheer ¾ sleeve shirt below ($272).
Sparkly Tank, Period.
A more wearable, more seasonless iteration of the sequin minidress is the sparkly tank, which, of course, adds an instant shot of dressiness to any pair of pants. Theory’s copper-colored sequined tank (was $495, now $173) and this beaded black tank from LaROK ($198) both have a slightly relaxed fit.
