I Don't Believe In Expensive Workout Gear: How I Get Nike For $33 & More Great Finds
March 4, 2015
I don’t believe in expensive workout gear. Sure, it would be nice to ball out on some Lululemon like Kimmy K, but even so, I just don’t think it makes sense to spend a ton on things that get sweaty and gross. Now that I actually (kinda, sorta) enjoy working out, I made it my mission to learn everything there is to know about cheap exercise gear.
It’s easy to waltz into a Target or Walmart and buy whatever is on the racks–but that’s not how you’re going to find items that don’t wear out after one spin class. You need to look for the right signs, like sports bras with a compression fit or moisture-wicking leggings. The brands I’ve found that do this best are Express, C9 By Champion and Forever 21. I have yet to try Old Navy activewear, but it looks promising.
If you must to splurge on some fancy workout gear, the item you should do it on is sneakers, for sure. Even though you are supposed to replace them every 200 miles or so (yes, really), it is worth it to go for the pair that might be more expensive, but will prevent injuries. Medical bills > $100 kicks! However, there is a way around this and that is shopping on sites like 6PM and Kohl’s. They sell marked down Nike clothes and shoes, with some sneakers going for half the price!
