I knew it was time to learn how to braid my hair when I decided to go to Tulane University in Louisiana. You see, I’m a native New Yorker with wavy, frizzy hair–I’ve even been told I have enough of it for 4 people (true story). So my fro was just not going to cut it in the Southern heat, and there’s no way I would have time to do it in between classes, meeting new people and, you know, adjusting to this thing called COLLEGE.
Luckily, we live in an era where you can find anything on the interwebs. So I went to YouTube and searched “how to fishtail braid,” because I wanted something a little fancier on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (okay, Tuesdays too). I watched the first video that came up and mastered the fishtail braid after one viewing. It’s actually pretty easy to pick up just by watching someone else do it. If I can fishtail as someone who considers herself “beauty challenged,” you can too.
