Looks like Lucite is getting a makeover for 2013. The acrylic material was previously only known to the fashion world as the stuff that makes those trashy clear stripper and Playboy bunny heels. However, it’s popularity as a respectable fashion material is rising, with the textile being used in jewelry, high-end designer shoes and, now, the evening clutch. The Perspex box clutch was first made popular with Charlotte Olympia‘s customizable version, which features interchangeable wallet inserts to coordinate with the occasion. Other brands have since  followed suit – as have numerous DIY fashion bloggers – to create the transparent accessory. For some of the styles, you have to be okay with the contents of your clutch being exposed to the world. The upside of these handbags? Complete protection. Nothing’s getting squished in these babies. If you’re as on board with this unusual trend as we are, click through for our roundup of Lucite box clutches – from neon-hued and leopard print to crystal-clear.
