Millions and millions of people are affected by sleep problems. Some people face the problem of not sleeping through the night, have trouble falling asleep or don’t sleep at all. I personally have trouble falling asleep and it can be really frustrating. I’ve tried just about everything to help me doze off at night and I’ve found that one thing seems to work better than others.

Sleeping with an eye mask (also called sleep mask) is not just for beauty sleep. They are actually really beneficial for anyone who has trouble falling and staying asleep. Wearing an eye mask to sleep increases your melatonin levels, which is a natural hormone produced by the brain that helps control your sleep and wake cycles. Light affects how much melatonin your body produces so by wearing an eye mask your body is signaled by the darkness to produce melatonin.

Eye masks can also increase the amount of time you spend in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. They also help decrease the amount of time it takes you to fall asleep. Not to mention, eye masks are a way cheaper alternative to the other sleep aids available.
