I want to make it clear that I am not a high-end makeup snob. When it comes to makeup, I’m a firm believer in the fact that you can find great quality makeup at the drugstore. My makeup collection includes everything from NARS to NYC cosmetics–I’m not going to buy something just because it has a fancy name on it. But Chanel’s Vitalumiere Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 ($45) caught my attention because I’ve heard amazing things about it (it has over 100 positive reviews on the Nordstrom website). I had a little extra cash, so I decided to give it a shot. It pained me to spend $45 on it, but I quickly discovered that it is worth every penny.
Literally the only thing I don’t like about it is it’s ridiculously long name. Other than that, this foundation is pretty much perfection. It provides light, natural-looking coverage. The formula covers redness and problem areas without looking too cakey. I have weird combination skin–the skin around my nose is always dry, but my t-zone is always oily–and this product works on my entire face. My favorite way to apply it is with my Beauty Blender (another beauty splurge that’s worth every penny), but applying it with your fingers worth fine, too. An added bonus is the packaging: it is lightweight and the twist on cap makes it safe to throw into your purse.
As a cheapskate, I am forcing myself to use up my other foundations before I splurge on another bottle of Chanel Vitalumiere. It’s a painful process, considering I fell in love the product at first use. Do you hace a favorite foundation that you splurge on?
