If you haven’t updated your Instagram app, you should do it right now. Instagram’s newest photo feature allows you to upload portrait and landscape photos and videos, no longer forcing you to use the square format. While Instagram says the “square format has been and always will be part of who we are,” they want users to be able to share moments without having to chop off parts of their pictures.
When you share a portrait or landscape photo, it will appear that way in your feed. However, on your profile to maintain “clean feel of your profile grid,” your photos will be a center-cropped square. Also, all Instagram filers will now be available for both photos and videos.
1. Never post more than three pictures in a day. The only exceptions to this rule is if it’s Fashion Week, your birthday or an amazing vacation.
2. Don’t use more than four hashtags per picture.
3. Selfies should only be taken in two instances: 1. if you work in Fashion and want to show off a cool outfit and 2. if no one is available to take a picture of you in an awesome place.
