One of the must-have items at the top of our list for fall is the beanie. You know a trend is going to be big when it’s spotted on AND off the runway at Fashion Week. Back in February, designers like Rebecca Minkoff, DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger showed the head-hugging cap with their fall/winter 2013 collections, and it was practically mandatory attire for attendees looking to get snapped by street style photographers. While the runway beanies were more like what you would expect a beanie to look and feel like (dark colored and knit), there’s way more to this trend. Stores are showing plenty of variations of this hat for fall, including studded, neon and bejeweled options. You can even rock a beanie with cat ears if you’re into that sort of thing.
You don’t have to be a hipster or a slacker or starring in the sequel to 8 Mile to wear one of these hats. In fact, ultimate cool girl Cara Delevingne is rarely spotted without one, and if Cara wears it, I want to wear it. So for all you cool girls (literally and figuratively) who are looking for something to give your outfit a laid-back, effortless vibe: put a beanie on it. You can even start wearing them now, thanks to lightweight and bright color options. If anything, you should give this trend a try to hide a bad hair day. We promise, it works.
