J.Crew Travels Abroad : International Expansion Slated To Begin This Month
August 8, 2011
Later this month, J.Crew stores will open internationally
Things are moving and shaking over at J.Crew—and this time, it’s not happening on American soil. This morning, WWD reported that the brand would open its first store abroad later this month, with plans for further international expansion throughout the year.
And the brand isn’t traveling far for their first international store opening—on August 18th the first J.Crew Canada store will open in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Center. However, plans for expansion in the U.K. and then through the rest of Europe are not far behind.
Last year, J.Crew started selling some pieces internationally via Net-A-Porter, but now the brand plans on selling internationally via JCrew.com, even before standalone stores open abroad. So far, England will be the first country to be able to shop J.Crew online—their UK commerce site will bow this fall.
Adding to the brand’s burgeoning international presence, J.Crew will show at this year’s New York Fashion Week, putting it among the high-fashion ranks of internationally acclaimed brands and designers.
