Jessica Alba's Tattoo: Love It or Hate It?

The first thing I thought when I saw this pic of Jessica Alba with that arm tattoo? I hope it’s fake. Not that I have anything against tattoos–I have three myself. But that one just isn’t right and it doesn’t seem to fit with her style. Check out that cute outfit she’s wearing–you probably didn’t even notice her awesome turquoise jeans because that tattoo is so jarring.

I’m wondering, though, how many of you mamas have tattoos. If you do, how do you talk to your kids about them? I’ve been pretty open about my ink with my daughter. Sort of. I’ve explained there are two kinds of tattoos. There are those like mine that require lots of needles and there are the ones for kids that you can just stick on. She always says, “I want a tattoo! But the kid one with no needles.” Clever, huh?

What have you said? Would you ever discourage your child from getting a tattoo? Why or why not? Share your tattoo stories in the comments.

Also, in case you’re wondering, Jessica’s tat is fake. Apparently, it’s for a movie she’s doing entitled, A.C.O.D.
