With the Golden Globe Awards right around the corner, we have started to predict what some of our favorite stars will be wearing on the red carpet — including actress Jessica Chastain. The Golden Globes aren’t new to Chastain, who has been nominated for 4 previous awards and won “Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama” for her role in Zero Dark Thirty back in 2013. For the 2018 Golden Globes, the actress is nominated for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama” for her leading role in Molly’s Game. On Jan. 7, 2018, Jessica Chastain will attend the Golden Globe Awards for the fifth time, and we cannot wait to see what she’ll wear! Let’s review what the 40-year-old has worn to past red carpet events; maybe there’s a clue in there somewhere!
At the New York Premiere for Molly’s Game just last week, Jessica Chastain wore a signature black and white Oscar de la Renta gown. “The curving black lines flecked with the designer’s logo create great movement while adding a somber edge to the white tulle base,” RCFA reported. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “ivory tule gown with black bonded and laser-cut ribbon” costs $6,790!
At the 2017 AFI FEST screening of Molly’s Game and Tribute to Aaron Sorkin this past November, Chastain graced the red carpet in Elie Saab. “Her Resort 2018 column dress with a thigh-high slit (to allow an Angelina pose) was the perfect backdrop for that stunning pendant necklace,” RCFA reported. “Glossy waves and gorgeous natural makeup rounded out her look.”
In May, Jessica Chastain wore a satin, floor-length Georgio Armani Privé gown at Cannes Film Festival in France. “The halterneck gown wrapped around the Zero Dark Thirty actress’ neckline and plunged along her back, teasing her creamy complexion,” the Daily Mail reported. “Her makeup was typically fresh, with a light sweep of pale pink lipstick on her pout and a dusting of shadow across her eyelids.”
In May, Jessica Chastain looked like a Disney princess, wearing a beautiful soft-yellow Prada gown to the 2017 Met Gala in New York City. “Part of the Prada posse, the actress donned a pale yellow chiffon plissé off-the-shoulder Elizabethan-style gown embellished with crystal embroidery,” RCFA reported.
Rumor has it that many female actresses will be wearing black to the Golden Globes as protest to the recent sexual harassment controversy in Hollywood. “All female actresses attending the Globes are protesting by just wearing black gowns,” a source tells People. In fact, Jessica Chastain has been very vocal in addressing the recent sexual misconduct in Hollywood, especially on Twitter. “I have a problem with filmmakers who use violence against women, and especially rape, to make a woman stronger—where the woman needs to be victimized in order to become a butterfly. I find that pattern in cinema really disturbing,” she told TIME, when asked where she drew the line with violence against women onscreen.
Whether Chastain wears black or green or yellow, we are certain that her red carpet appearance will be stunning at the 2018 Golden Globes.
