During last night’s MTV VMA’s, Kanye West was the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which was presented to him by Taylor Swift. He joins the ranks of past winners like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and many more. Kanye has produced more than 40 (extremely unique) music videos throughout his career, so it’s no surprise he took home the award. However, instead of focusing on his career and his music, he went on an 11-minute rant…and announced he’s running for president in 2020.
There is one thing from his speech that I do somewhat agree with, however. He stated, “I still don’t understand awards shows. I don’t understand how they get five people who worked their entire life … sold records, sold concert tickets to come stand on the carpet and for the first time in they life be judged on the chopping block and have the opportunity to be considered a loser!”
