Katherine Heigl Looked Like A Ruffled Cupcake On the Red Carpet

Though earlier this week, we praised Katherine Heigl‘s style in the movie, Killers, she ruined it with this frilly, cupcake confection to The Killers premiere; from the dyed-black ringlets, to the teeny-bopper belt, the only thing she “killed” was her chances of getting on the Best Dressed List. I would say that she looks like she’s going to Junior Prom, but honestly a high schooler could have put a better outfit together.

What she did wrong:

Katherine should have avoided overkill by wearing either a frilly top OR bottom. Not both.

Another ruffle rule is to wear it in sophisticated, bold colors like black or electric blue. Baby pink + ruffles = not age inappropriate.

The dress had enough going on – Katherine just made matters worse by adding this embellished hot pink belt.

What she should have done:

To get her ruffle fix, Katherine should have gone with a more sophisticated, all-black ensemble, like this sexy Bailey 44 Ruffled Knit dress ($94.90, down from $159).

On the red carpet, it’s better to make a statement with one’s necklace – not belt. Heigl should have worn a bold, lucite style like this gorgeous Aqua Lucite and Gold Chain Necklace ($38).

Katherine could have satisfied her urge to wear pink in smaller doses by wearing a pair of more subtle, blush pink Chloe sandals ($238, down from $595)).
