Lagerfeld, Louboutin & More Will Design Their Own Louis Vuitton Monogram Bags
June 3, 2014
Louis Vuitton‘s famous brown and gold monogram bag print is getting a serious makeover this fall. According to WWD, Louis Vuitton will collaborate with 6 major designers, or “iconoclasts,” including Karl Lagerfeld, Frank Gehry, Cindy Sherman, Rei Kawakubo, Christian Louboutin and Marc Newson, who will design bags and luggage for the collection that will hit stores in mid-October.
Vuitton is being sooo secretive about what the bags will look like. So secretive that the luxury brand won’t even release images of the bags until the fall. But even though we don’t know what the bags will look like, we do know that Lagerfeld and Sherman will create bags and trunks, Newson will design a men’s bag, and all of the designer’s bags will be made with the classic LV monogram print in celebration of Louis Vuitton’s 160th anniversary.
Want one yet? Of course you do! Delphine Arnault, Louis Vuitton’s executive vice president, called the project “the most desirable icon in the world.” But since the bags in this collection are so desirable, you may not be able to get your hands on one, since they will only be available for a few months, and they will retail between $2,725 and $5,450. But if you can find one and you have the money to blow, go for it! There is no better way to celebrate an LV anniversary than to buy yourself a bag from what will be one of the designer’s greatest collections yet.
