If you’ve ever seen Rosemary’s Baby, liked an asymmetrical bob or picked up a hand-held dryer, you probably know who Vidal Sassoon is. (He’s the man behind the hair!)  Sassoon became an overnight sensation after Roman Polanski paid him a whooping $5,000 (that’s in the 1960s!) to make Mia Farrow’s pixie cut for the legendary horror movie Rosemary’s Baby— a look that would be copied by millions of women up to this day (just look at Carey Mulligan and Ginnifer Goodwin).

CLICK the slideshow above for 6 of our favorite Vidal Sassoon products (all under $25)

He became known for his sharp geometric bob cuts that he modeled on the likes of Grace Coddington and for popularizing the use of hand-held dryers in salons and homes in the age of helmet dryers.  Not only that, but he built a beauty empire from a string of salons and a hair-care line and became the go-to hairdresser for celebrities like Twiggy and Rita Hayworth.Yesterday, he passed away in his L.A. home, and although the cause of his death has not yet been revealed,  he has been known to battle with leukemia. The beauty world has lost an amazing hair connoisseur. In tribute, here are our favorite products to remember him by.
