For those of you that have worked in fashion in one capacity or another, Karmaloop.com is essentially where members of The Pool Show can go to make online sales. Designed in 1999 to “battle the evil forces of McFashion (Abercrombie and the likes)” as they put it, Karmaloop provides America with hip, urban brands, many of which are straight blasts from the past—like Penguin, LeTigre and Members Only. If you’re looking to find what your typical cool kid in London can purchase on the streets daily, come to Karmaloop to get your Bench., Spiewak and Boxfresh on. Sure, they also carry more obnoxious urban brands like Gsus and UFO, but at least somebody’s out there trying to take down fashion lemmings one piece of thoughtful wardrobe at a time. And thanks to surviving the dotcom crash, they can reach even the most culturally deprived corners of the country.
