Look of the Day: Take It Outside

With all the best shows on TV wrapping up their seasons for summer, where’s a girl to get her daily dose of culture? I plan on taking it outside and getting my fill of entertainment and people watching at the city’s many neighborhood festivals, outdoor concerts, art shows and flea markets. Not a bad trade-off, actually. To prep for a day or night in the great (urban) outdoors, choose one simple base layer, like a comfy jersey dress or easy-to-accessorize shirtdress. Take a light jacket for when the sun goes down, and plan footwear according to what you’ll be doing. Hoofing it from booth to booth at a local street fair? Opt for funky flats. Date night with lawn seats? Crisp white peep toe pumps are in order. As always, a statement-making piece of jewelry, like this Multi-strand turquoise necklace, is a good bet, and you shouldn’t leave home without a pair of chic shades and a bag big enough to carry the day’s finds.
