Sorry Kim, Looks Like Skechers Shape-Ups Are Also A Sham

Back in September, we got wind that Reebok was to be hit with a $25 million lawsuit for false claims that their EasyTone line actually worked. Well now, Skechers Shape-ups—the line for which Kim Kardashian is the official sponsor—is in the hot seat.

WWD reported that Skechers USA is expecting to be imminently slapped with a “false and deceptive advertising” allegation by the FTC. And while Reebok was only subject a $25 million settlement, Skechers’ own execs even said they’ll probably end up having to pay more.

Analysts agreed, saying a “settlement range of between $50 million and $75 million is likely since “Skechers’ toning business in 2009 and 2010 was likely two to three times larger than that of Reebok.”

Looking back, though, are you surprised that something Kim Kardashian endorsed turned out to be a ‘false advertising’? We’re starting to see a trend here: toning sneakers, eyelashes, her marriage….
