Love 'Em Or Hate 'Em, Flatbed Sandals Are Not Going Anywhere
March 21, 2014
When it comes to the seven types of shoes for spring, we’ve already done extensive shopping research for your new pair of embellished espadrilles and fashion sneakers. Now it’s time to expand upon your sandal choice: the flatbed. Sure, you can order a pair of Birkenstocks and call it a day, but there’s plenty more styles available by both high-end and high-street names. What exactly makes a flatbed sandal? When shopping for a pair, be sure to look for a thicker sole than most sandals — usually made of cork or some sort of foam. They also either come with straps to buckle or wrap around, or simple crossover straps so you can easily slip your feet into a pair. Oh, and they also feel really good on your feet. Thanks to the flatbed sole, the sandal is both comfortable and sturdy. Check out our slideshow to see which ones you fancy — and be sure to get a pedicure once you’ve made your purchase!
