Initially, I thought the cutout trend was just plain silly. Was using less fabric a new strategy to cope with the recession? I’ll admit it looks great on rail thin models, but I don’t know how many people will look good with fabric missing from their hips (see Balmain). But the trend is starting to grow on me since there are cutout options that don’t require a Kate Moss body. Here are four pieces you should consider:
You can’t have too many little black dresses, and this Cynthia Rowley Back Cutout Dress ($187.50) will be your next go-to. Its jersey fabric makes it comfortable, and the cutouts on the back don’t reveal too much.
This Leifsdottir Washed Silk Blouse ($228) might be a little pricey, but it’s gorgeous. The rope details at the neckline and the cutouts on the shoulders make this baby pink top a must-have.
The picture doesn’t show any skin, but this Nanette Lepore Charlotte Shirtdress ($248) has a cutout back that makes the dress interesting. Wear it to work with a blazer and out at night without one.
