At the start of a new year, everyone tries to find the latest diet craze or the quickest way to lose weight–and they rarely include indulging in foods you actually like. But what if we told you there’s a new diet out there, and it includes eating fast food? A science teacher from Iowa, John Cisna, decided that he wanted to prove all the critics wrong (it was the 2004 documentary Super Size Me that inspired him) and eat ONLY McDonald’s to help him lose weight. #Mindblown.
Now granted he was limited to 2,000 calories a day, but he still hit the yellow arches 3 times from dawn to dusk. With the help of some of his students, Cisna created a meal plan, which included eating oatmeal or egg whites for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and a value meal for dinner. Yes, he actually ate Big Macs sometimes too, and even had some leftover cals for a sundae.
We’d be fools to think that ALL he had to do was eat fast food to lose weight, so KCCI News, who broke the story, made sure to point out that Cisna also added exercise to his daily activities. He walked for 45 minutes every day. Then after 90 days of this new lifestyle, Cisna lost 37 pounds. And that isn’t even the best part: the owner of the McDonald’s that Cisna frequented was so interested in his plan that he let him eat for free! So Cisna lost a ton of weight and saved money? It could have been the added exercise, or maybe that he was limited to 2,000 calories, but Cisna still got to hit up the fast food chain for his dietary needs. What do you think? Did eating McDonald’s have anything to do with Cisna losing weight? Let us know in the comment section below!
