Marchesa's Georgina Chapman Did A Line For JCPenney - And It Launches Next Week

JCPenney is on a tear with designer collaborations these days: Lulu Guinness, Nanette Lepore, Duro Olowu – and now Marchesa. Well, Georgina Chapman, that is. The head designer of the red carpet-ready label is launching Pearl by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa, a line of special occasion gowns, cocktail dresses and formal separates – we’ve previewed a super-cute lace jacket and shorts – that range from $70 to $100. The budget-friendly price point of the collection is one that the ladies of Marchesa are previously unfamiliar with.

Said Chapman about tackling the mass market:

I have really enjoyed this challenge. It’s amazing what Penney’s can achieve at a price point. There’s corsetry involved, beautiful laces, beautiful prints.

It will be interesting to see what the self-proclaimed “frumpy” shoppers of JCPenney make of the Hollywood glamour of Marchesa. And as fans of what Georgina Chapman sends down the red carpet, we can’t wait to see what she can turn out for us regular folk. Pearl by Georgina Chapman launches on March 1 on JCPenney.
