When Books Won't Do, Try Melissa & Doug's Chunky Shape Puzzle

My daughter turned 2 earlier this summer and she is at that age where she simply cannot sit still while I read to her. At bedtime I have to force her to lay still and even then her feet inevitably wind up where her head started. Attempting to read peacefully during the day is often futile, so this chunky shapes puzzle by Melissa & Doug has been my saving grace. It gets my daughter to sit still for a few minutes and much like a book it’s helps her develop critical skills And because it’s interactive, she doesn’t get bored with it too quickly. Best of all, she now knows the difference between a triangle and a square.
