It’s funny how the trickle-up fashion effect seems to work these days. Just a few years ago, every respectable boho-chic gal and guy had a collection of cute, albeit lumberjack-like, plaid shirts… and the high-end fashionistas of the world said no-go. Now, just as New York’s formerly hip Williamsburg neighborhood has moved on up, so has the plaid shirt, right onto the oh-so-toned bod of our stylish and very classy First Lady. FocusOnStyle reported that Michelle wore Love Moschino’s festive, tie-front top, and as with most of her outfits, we love it.
For an equally feminine, but (slightly) more affordable, plaid look, try Gap’s ruffle front shirt or this scarf-tie neck top by Marc Jacobs. If you’re not into those, we’ve got plenty more picks in our guide to the best plaid shirts.
