I am definitely one of those people that takes work home with me. I sometimes work until 9 or 10 at night and guess what? When I’m trying to fall asleep, I can’t seem to turn it off.
I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Devi Brown, meditation expert and founder of Karma Bliss, and she literally blew my mind with three simple words when I was describing this problem to her. Her solution? Think. The. Thought. That’s it. Let yourself think the thought.
It seems obvious, but the fact is I would mentally freak out that I was still thinking about work instead of going to sleep. This mental dance of going between the work thought and the sleep thought ultimately kept me awake way longer than I needed to be.
After Devi blew my mind, I started to just think those work thoughts to completion and what do you know? I was able to release them and finally–freakin’, finally!–fall asleep pretty quickly.
My advice to you? Give it a try tonight!
