Mom's Read of the Week: An A-Z Guide to Food Additives

This week’s book pick for mom, An A-Z Guide to Food Additives: Never Eat What You Can’t Pronounce, is exactly an escapist read like some of our past picks, but it does contain essential information for keeping our children healthy.

Synopsis: We admit this upfront: this is not a light beach read, or even a book you’ll read in order cover to cover. It is, however, a comprehnsice guide to deciphering exactly what you’re putting in your grocery cart–and later into your children’s bodies.

Why We Love it: We appreciate An A-Z Guide to Food Additives’s balanced viewpoint; it not only helps you avoid undesirable food additives, but also shows you which are benign, and some that may even be nutritious. It grades additives A (nutritious) to F (avoid!), and includes hints on how to read unreadable ingredient labels. And if you aren’t interested in memorizing things you can’t pronounce, it’s small so you can pop it in your purse for quick reference when you’re at the store.
