The Comfort Carrier lives up to its name—simply put. I’ve been using it with my 22-pound toddler—which is pretty heavy for baby-wearing—and I can wear her comfortably for longer periods of time than with other baby carriers. Here’s a breakdown of the pros:
First, I love how they’ve designed it with older and heavier babies in mind. The shoulder straps are awesome—they’re wide and nicely padded, so they don’t dig into your skin. There’s also an adjustable back buckle, which keeps the straps in place so you don’t have to worry about them slipping off your shoulders. And to make it even more comfortable, there’s an adjustable waist belt that really helps distribute the weight from your back and shoulders to your hips.
More reasons to love it: it’s made from organic cotton, comes with a bib for the droolers and looks pretty slick.
Now for the cons. It’s expensive. For the price, it would have been fantastic if you could use it with baby on your back and if it had some storage pockets. But if you figure you can use it for about two years, and use it again for siblings, the price isn’t so bad.
Also, the little square flap that forms the “wide seat” just hangs there when you’re not using it. No big deal, but it would be better if it zipped off completely or tucked away somewhere. Finally, the snap that holds the waist belt takes a little practice to undo.
