Move Over, TOMS: The New Must-Have Charitable Shoe Is Here
July 16, 2013
What’s better than shopping for super cute shoes while also giving back? Nothing. Ix shoes (pronounced “eeks”) is following in the footsteps of TOMS’s shopping for a cause initiative, literally. Siblings Francesca and John Kennedy, founders of Ix shoes, read Start Something that Matters by TOMS’s founder Blake Mycoskie while on a trip to visit family in Guatemala. After seeing Guatemalan children drink from a polluted water source, Francesca knew she had to do something to help. Between Mycoskie’s book and the sibling’s concern for the youth of Guatemala, Ix shoes was born. For every pair purchased, a donation is made to Charity Water, a group that provides clean drinking water to underprivileged children in Guatemala.
The name Ix comes from the Mayan word for water and the shoe is inspired by Mayan textiles and leather. Support a great cause and get a pair of these perfect for summer huaraches now. Shopping never felt so good.
