Last night at a panel discussion about the recently released DVD The September IssueVogue staffers Andre Leon Talley, Grace Coddington, and film director R.J. Cutler looked pleasantly surprised at the size of the crowd that battled the New York City slush (and the slew of chic winter boots). I walked away from the event with a signed DVD, and four surprising tidbits to share:

1. Grace says technology ruined fashion: She told us the fast pace of today’s fashion world decreases the quality of work and puts designers under too much stress. She even attributed the frenetic world of fashion to British designer Alexander McQueen’s suicide.”New school is good, but old school is better,” agreed Talley, who refuses to Twitter.

2. Andre thinks most celebs need a makeover: Who does he think needs it most urgently? The stars of the “Sunday night shows”: The Desperate Housewives and Mad Men need the most red carpet help–with the exception of January Jones, asserting, “She wears Lanvin. She is fine.”

3. The film crew knocked Grace Coddington over at the Chanel Haute Couture show while trying to get a shot: As you can imagine, Grace had real issues with Cutler after she was pummeled by the camera men.

4. Anna still cuts pages from Grace’s $50,000 photo shoots: If you saw the documentary, then you know that Vogue editor Anna Wintour constantly cut pages of Grace’s magazine editorials. When asked if that changed since the release of the film, Grace replied, “Absolutely not.” Aww.
