Netflix for Baby Clothes? Are You Signing Up?
July 18, 2011
You rent the latest movies through Netflix, but would you rent baby’s clothes through a similar model? That’s what Plum Gear (plumgear.com) is banking on, a new Netflix-type subscription service that allows you to rent cute baby clothes by the month.
Here’s how it works: specify baby’s size and then depending on your subscription, you will receive two, four or seven baby outfits at a time from high end brands like Tea Collection, Petit Bateau and Egg Baby. Each outfit is “good-as-new items in seasonally appropriate styles,” and they’re packed in a returnable envelope. When baby outgrows the clothes, simply send them back and receive new outfits in the next size.
Worried about stains (which are bound to happen)? Don’t because you won’t be charged–Plum will just donate the soiled clothes to babies in foster care. How much does it cost? Prices start at $16 per month for two outfits and up to $49 per month for seven.
What do you think? Me? I’m one of those moms who LOVES shopping for her kids and picking out each and every outfit, so this probably wouldn’t work for me. But what about you? Would you sign up?
