Think you’ve seen the best of fabric belts? Not so fast! Kristin Kahle, who learned the design ropes while playing in her dad’s office (The Baker Showroom in New York) as a little girl, has acquired the best vintage fabrics in limited quantities and hand sews them into works of art with silver, brass and hand-painted wood buckles. Even better, her belts aren’t yet mass-marketed (no department stores, no catalogs) and there are only a few hundred of each style, period, so you’re buying something special. Each unique design is named after a world city. For spring, I love Kyoto Pink or Barcelona Red. Although I have to say, every time I’ve gone out sporting the Miami I’ve received no less than three or four comments. Maybe it’s the flash of pink that gives this one the perfect amount of “girl†to go with my faded jeans. The buckles are amazingly durable (the wood is backed with a steel ring) so you can feel good knowing you’re investing in an accessory you’ll have forever. www.kristinkahle.com.
