Revlon’s 2005 Run/Walk For Women raised $5.6 million, a record for the event. Annual runs and walks held in New York and Los Angeles have raised a combined total of more than $37 million for women’s cancer research, including cervical cancer. On a related and equally stunning note, scientists have developed a breakthrough vaccine for cervical cancer, which prevented the disease in 100 percent of cases during trials. Cervical cancer causes about 3,000 deaths in the U.S. annually and almost ten times that figure worldwide. The vaccine, Gardasilâ„¢, may be on the market as early as 2006. Ladies, please don’t forget to get yourselves tested with Pap smears and mammograms. Find more information about women’s cancers at cancer.org and the Revlon Run/Walk for Women at revlonrunwalk.com.
