NYFW Spring Trend Report: Cheeky Hot Pants (Literally.)
September 15, 2011
Looks from Jason Wu (1st from left), Jill Stuart (2nd & 4th), and Proenza Schouler (3rd)
Good thing these NYFW looks won’t be available until next season—that gives us time to load up on squats and spin classes before we’re expected to put a pair of these puppies on. Yes, we’ve been seeing hot pants on the runways for many seasons now (whether worn alone or under a chiffon maxi skirt), but for some reason they never cease to feel fresh.
And though I’ve yet to make any sort of use out of my gym membership, I’ve been obsessing over microshorts for this season, too: they’re the perfect way to take advantage of the still-warm nights, while still retaining some structure for fall. Buy them now in rich textures like leather and sequins, and then pair them with tights in a few weeks when the weather starts to turn.
Check out our roundup of my favorite styles below (and if my BFF is reading this, yes I included two styles you already own. I’m sorry. They’re just too good):
