Once And For All, Does Charging Your iPhone On Airplane Mode Make It Charge Faster?
November 29, 2016
There’s nothing worse than discovering (at noon) that your iPhone is down to 20 percent battery power. You can’t possibly make it through the day on such little power, so you’ll naturally look for a phone charging hack that can make your life easier.
If you’ve been listening to the iPhone rumor mill, you may have found one: charge your phone while it’s on airplane mode and, voila, it will work double-time to charge super fast. Sounds like the answer to your iPhone prayers, doesn’t it?
Sorry to get your hopes up, but airplane mode is not a time-saving miracle. According to CNET, charging your iPhone in airplane mode, which is also known as offline mode and prevents you from receiving and sending phone calls and texts, can shave approximately four minutes off charging time. That’s barely enough time to mix yourself a drink or brush your teeth. In the process, your phone will lose the ability to do what it does best and we don’t have to tell you how inconvenient it would be to not receive or send calls and texts in the middle of the day. Most employers aren’t exactly on board with that kind of chill interaction with your phone.
At the end of the day, the best thing you can do is be patient and let your phone charge the natural way. And maybe set a timer each night that reminds you to charge your phone when you need it least.
