Writer Tatiana Johnson and the ring which caused her to be placed under arrest at Laguardia Airport

While airport security regulations about liquids have definitely caused quite their fair share of travel day beauty blunders, but nothing has topped what happened to NYC writer Tatiana Johnson, who was put under arrest last month for wearing the above ring from Shepherd Fairey’s Obey line, which apparently was construed as a “weapon,” despite the fact that it is actually a brass knuckle two-finger ring with a bomb blimp design. Oh, and on top of that, it’s adorned with the phrase: “WAR IS OVER.” So there’s that.

After reading Tatiana’s horrible saga on Refinery29, I couldn’t help but wonder two things. First, where I could get my hands on that ring (sorry TSA, but it’s pretty cool): and as it happens, it’s sold out everywhere. Why does rebellion have to be so trendy? But the thing that really irks me about this whole situation is that there are so many other more threatening rings that she could have been wearing… Check out our roundup of weapon-inspired two finger rings below (and don’t be surprised if I have my own criminal airport saga after wearing one):
