We already know that emerald green is the color of the year for 2013, and now Pantone has identified the colors of the season for fall 2013. Not surprisingly, 3 more green shades made the Top 10 list, so the reign of greens will continue through the next season. The color earning the top spot is Deep Lichen Green, a muddied hunter green, while Acai, a purple inspired by the berries, came in second. Also on the list: Emerald, Mykonos Blue (inspired by the Greek Island), Turbulence (a true grey), Samba (a favorite of Rachel Roy), Linden Green (a greenish yellow), Carafe (a coffee brown), Koi (a close cousin to Tangerine Tango, last year’s color) and Vivacious (a rich pink borrowed from cosmetics trends).
Of the range, Pantone Color Institute’s executive director, Leatrice Eiseman told WWD:
If you ever walked in the forest or the woods in the fall when the leaves have fallen, there is such a gorgeous mélange of color. This palette reflects those wonderful fall colors but at the same time there are colors that bring a certain sturdiness and structure.
The colors are reflective of what designers like Rachel Roy, Nicole Miller, Tommy Hilfiger and more, are showing for the season — so Pantone’s list is sort of like a fashion fortuneteller of what you’ll be wearing later this year. What do you think?
