So when we heard that Pixi Glow Tonic, a 2-in-1 exfoliant/toner–one that don’t cost a small fortune–is flying off the shelves at Target, we wanted to learn every single thing we could about it.
Whether you choose to refer to it as a beauty elixir, exfoliant, tonic, or just plain miracle product, women of all skin types are claiming the alcohol-free potion is heaven sent. Introduced in the U.S. at Target on August 31, it has already become a cult classic, with no fewer than 59 five-star reviews on Pixi’s site and a 5 star rating on target.com. The product can be applied to your face with a cotton ball, as you would an ordinary toner, but it has so many other uses, as well. Use it on your lips or eyebrows to get rid of dry skin, dab a bit on your legs to soothe irritation from razor burn, and apply to knees, elbows, and ankles prior to self-tanning to ensure a more even application.

SHEfinds: How does this tonic differ from your everyday exfoliant?
Pixi: Glow Tonic is both a toner and a mild exfoliant in one that can be used every day. There are no physical “exfoliator beads” that you would typically see with exfoliators. Glow Tonic contains 5% glycolic acid to gently exfoliate while ingredients such as Aloe Vera calm and soothe the skin.
SF: How would you describe it–is it a pure exfoliant or also a toner?
Pixi: GlowTonic is a beauty elixir and toner that gently exfoliates and freshens the skin. Alcohol free, it helps tone, firm and tighten the skin. Great info, but how does the product actually feel on your skin? I received a sample of Pixi Glow Tonic, coincidentally, two days after I put my poor skin through torture using an at-home two-step chemical peel product that shall remain nameless (until the day I get to write about at-home chemical peels). I’ve been reluctant to use anything harsher than my daily moisturizer, so I was over the moon when I discovered, after just one cotton swipe of the toner over my forehead, that it felt like silk. It immediately sapped up all evidence of late-afternoon grease, and did so without stripping it of moisture. My skin didn’t burn, sting, or feel even the slightest bit “too tight,” if you know what I mean. I actually felt like I might be able to get away with not wearing a moisturizer on top of it (but let’s not get too carried away). The scent is light, clean, and not at all overpowering.
I can’t speak yet to Pixi Tonic Glow’s exfoliant properties and I’m reluctant to replace my beloved Green Apple Peel exfoliant just yet, but I definitely see myself making room on the shelf for this product and, at least for the time being, kicking my everyday toner (which doesn’t moisturize quite as well) to the curb.
