Preppy Spring Trend We Love: Blue & White Stripes

Like polka dots (and hey, maybe even daisies), the striped pattern has always been an easy way to make a subtle statement without having to wear something like neon or printed jeans. The Breton stripe, usually in black and white, is a signature garment for the always-chic woman, usually paired with a slim tailored pant and red lip (a la Audrey Hepburn).

But if you’re looking for a palette that’s simply less, well, drab, then we suggest going the preppy route with colored stripes in light blue and white. It’s a refreshing look — just in time for spring — and it still manages to go with everything in your wardrobe.(Think about it: the light blue reminds you of your favorite chambray blouse, which conveniently goes with your entire closet.) Just take one look at our girl Kourtney Kardashian in her Rails button down and you’ll be convinced.

We like this blue-and-white stripe on a boxy T-shirt, button-down, and even a pair of jeans. And that’s something you can usually get away with compared to a black-and-white stripe. (Cue the Beetlejuice and sports referee references!) Check out our slideshow to earn your new stripes now.
