OMG, Rachel and her entourage are at Paris Fashion Week, and it is OOC. The crew (sans Taylor the Martyr) hits up all the big name shows. Rachel takes a private tour of Coco Chanel’s apartments (and puts her shoes on Coco’s couch), goes vintage hunting, and puts a period between each. And. Every. Word. She. Speaks. Here are her over-enunciated fashion mandates (be warned, “recessionista” doesn’t have a French translation):
The 80s are back in a big way, so go for structure and color. Ungaro’s asymmetrical violet party dress is on trend with just enough of a Dynasty influence. And Karl Lagerfeld’s shoulder-padded wool blazer is a must.
According to Brad, we need to invest in some stilts: platforms are here to stay. Watching John Galliano’s models traipse down the runway in mile-high shoes (which Rachel tries to heist backstage) made my feet hurt. Maybe his slightly less-torturous platform pumps could stand up to a night on the dance floor?
If practicality’s more your bag, pick a comfy sweater dress from Stella McCartney (who at some point dresses all of Rach’s clients). And…nothing says Paris chic (over and over and over again) like a piece of vintage jewelry from Chanel. Peruse current vintage Chanel on eBay (but make sure you read the guides to spotting frauds before you plunk down your cash!)
