Reader E-Mail: How Do I Look Good At An Outdoor Sporting Event--Even While Eating A Hot Dog?
June 16, 2010
A SHEfinds’ reader had a major style conundrum that we’ve even tackled ourselves. What should you wear when you have to go to your nephew’s T-ball game, or your boyfriend just can’t give up those Yankees tickets. We say go with a cute, yet comfortable outfit for the occasion–and don’t worry, we’re not suggesting you dress like Victoria Beckham.
Oversize sunglasses are the essential starting point of any summer outfit – especially for daytime, outdoor events like a sports game. These Betsey Johnson ‘Glam – Oversized’ Sunglasses ($65) are super glam, and look way more expensive than they actually are.
Avoid the back and cleavage sweat by opting for a breezy, loose-fitting dress like this pretty Halogen® Pleated Knit Dress ($58). You don’t have to give up being girly just for the sake of the sport.
Forget heels (they’ll get stuck in the grass!). Instead, go for equally chic leather sandals like these Steve Madden Serrious Sandals in Cognac ($39).
Don’t forget the facial coverage, especially on hot, sunny days. This Nordstrom Straw Fedora ($38) is perfect – the fedora style is on-trend, and the straw color is versatile and goes with pretty much everything.
If you’d prefer the jeans and tee look, you really can’t go wrong with a v-neck tee like this Coverstitch V-neck T ($14.99, down from $19.50). It’s universally flattering.
Go with a stretch, cropped jean like these Joe’s Jeans ‘Honey – Kicker’ Cuff Crop Stretch Jeans ($152) – the laid-back style still looks put together (read: not sweatpants).
Slip-on Chuck Taylors are my weekend treat – they’re so insanely comfortable, and always in style. Try a pair of these Chuck Taylor All Star Slip ($50) at your next outdoor game and you won’t regret it.
