Some people only wrestle with dry skin in winter. For me, it's a year-round struggle. Too much sun, too little sun, chlorine, saltwater, forced heat, lingering in the tub for too long… you name it, and it stresses out my skin. Not only that, but some thicker lotions just sit on top of my skin, irritating it further and making it… gunky. Fun.
So I was psyched with a new product from Aveeno (a company that has already earned props in my book for making good products for sensitive skin): AVEENO Intense Relief Repair Cream ($14). It sinks in and actually feels silky – a word I don't use lightly. No grease. No irritation. And it lasts.
Another option for skin resuscitation and hard-core moisture is 5th Avenue Bath Company's Body Serum ($13). Its heavier, made with macadamia nut oil, and has a fantastic scent (rendering perfume unnecessary). It's not too heavy for end-of-summer use, but I'm especially excited to use it this winter, when I can layer it under flannel jammies and marinate in it til dawn.
