Richard Chai For Target: It's Not Bad
August 4, 2008
It was a working weekend for me – well, sort of. I trekked to a Target store to scope out the much anticipated Richard Chai collection, and I must say, it wasn't that bad. I wasn't blown away, but I didn't leave shaking my fists at the big red bull's eye as I have with past collections.
I suppose the reason we are no longer doing somersaults for GO International is due in part to the hype that ensues months and months beforehand. It's like your friend telling you she's found your soulmate and then talking non-stop about how amazing he is and how the two of you are going to fall in love the moment you meet. That's just a recipe for disappointment. Oh, Richard, how I wanted you to be my soulmate. And all I ended up with was a new movie buddy for those slow Friday nights. Which really isn't all that bad. Below are the pieces I ended up taking home.
This grey and ivory striped tank ($15) is an interesting take on the standard summer staple. Pair it with your favorite jeans and a black blazer for casual Friday at the office.
This bold tangerine mini ($27) is a fresh alternative to your go-to party dress for a night out.
With fall around the corner (where did the summer go?) you're going to need to start thinking about sweaters, and long cardigans are making a comeback. This exaggerated cardigan ($40) in a muted blue-grey looks great with both dresses and pant ensembles – and the color is neutral enough to wear with anything.
Have you checked out the Richard Chai collection? Does it live up to your expectations? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
