What a bummer–hot on the heels of C. Wonder’s bankruptcy announcement, Gap Inc. just announced they’re shuttering Piperlime, both the website and the standalone store in New York City. According to the company’s press release, the shut down will be complete by then end of March 2015. Gap Inc CEO Art Peck added:
“We are incredibly grateful to our fashion-focused, loyal customers, and proud of our dedicated employees who have been working hard to evolve the brand and test out new ideas. We plan to keep on pushing new ideas and look forward to seeing how we can apply what we’ve learned to the rest of the company as we continue to bring great products and shopping experiences to our customers.”
No word on exactly why Piperlime is dunzo, but we’re guessing it has a lot to do with money. Piperlime is by far the smallest brand in Gap’s portfolio.
It’s not all bad news, though. This is your chance to go raid Piperlime’s sale section before all that cheap designer merch is gone for good.
