Rodarte For The Olympics, Mary Kate and Ashley's Late '90s Jeans Resurface, More

1. Twin moguls Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are adding denim to their design repoitoire in a line called Textile Elizabeth and James. If they style at left looks familiarly out of style, it’s intentional. The sisters refashioned old jeans of theirs from high school in the late ’90s that they live in–and plan to eventually add more comfortable classics based on their own closet. The nostalgia continues: they’re naming the styles after music icons Jimi Hendriks, Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell. Get a new pair of skinny jeans, and check out Oprah’s favorite pair by CJ Cookie Johnson.  [WWD]

2. Speaking of design duos, the sisters behind Rodarte took a brief departure from their comfort zone of dresses to create one-of-a kind sportswear pieces for 12 Olympic hopefuls, including figure skater Johnny Weir. Get in shape with cheap workout gear that looks cute but you can actually wear on the treadmill. [WWD]

3. Move over, CFDA: The Fashion 2.0 Social Media Awards will inject new life into fashion award shows. With categories like Best Twitter Account, Top Innovator, and Best Facebook page, the new event stresses the importance of social media in the fashion industry now, nominating Chanel and Diane von Furstenberg, to name a few.  Who will you vote for? Weigh in at ideeli (and shop the French Connection sale today while you’re at it.) [WWD]

4. The internet is leveling the playing field even more–extending to fashion shows’ front rows. London Fashion week’s shows will be streamed live–and according to Vogue UK, “the [fashion] industry’s barriers of exclusivity are being torn down.” As long as you have a computer, you get an up-close look. Now maybe Kelly Cutrone’s assistants will stop complaining about seating assignments at Fashion Week.  [Vogue UK]

5. While our love affair with Topshop is only just beginning, some Londoners are finished with the chain. One Guardian writer declares her affair to be over–and gives a heads up about some new stores she’d consider having a fling with–some of which may come to the US soon. Find out where to get the best sales and deals now. [The Guardian]
